Eleven students recently graduated from Penn College at Wellsboro’s practical nursing program. Graduates are high demand in health care facilities throughout the region.

U.S. Rep. Glenn “G.T.” Thompson (R-15) visited Penn College at Wellsboro on Thursday to learn more about how the health care workforce development programs offered at the site are impacting the critical need for health care workers in Tioga and surrounding counties. Through Workforce Development at Penn College, the facility offers licensed practical nurse and emergency medical technician training.

Penn College at Wellsboro’s one-year practical nursing program is profiled in this inspiring, four-minute video that introduces viewers to students, graduates, faculty, facilities and the program director. “This gave me an opportunity to better myself and get a better job,” shared recent graduate Megan Lewis. “I’m really thankful for that, honestly.”

Alison A. Diehl has been appointed vice president for workforce development at Pennsylvania College of Technology. Diehl’s hiring was approved June 27 by the Penn College Board of Directors. She has been serving as executive director of the college’s Clean Energy Center since November 2023; she begins her new duties on Aug. 5.

An Emergency Medical Technician course that begins the week of Aug. 19 is accepting registrations. Offered by Pennsylvania College of Technology’s Workforce Development, the course will prepare students who are interested in enrolling in Workforce Development’s paramedic certificate program starting on Jan. 6, 2025. The Emergency Medical Technician course will be offered at three locations. Seating is limited.

The 6:30 p.m. events will be held at Pennsylvania College of Technology’s Wellsboro campus, 22 Walnut St. The sessions will also be connected to the Potter County Education Council through Zoom.

Munro – who manages training and employment partnerships with the Plastics Innovation & Resource Center, Apprenticeship Center, Clean Energy Center and at Penn College at Wellsboro – is No. 91 on the list.

An Emergency Medical Technician course, beginning the week of Aug. 14 and running through early December, will be offered at three locations by Workforce Development at Pennsylvania College of Technology.
